Good afternoon, I would like to present a report on "Deposit Operations of Commercial Banks."
As is well known, commercial banks occupy a central position in the financial infrastructure of the state, providing a wide range of financial services to individuals and organizations. One of the key functions of a bank is to attract temporarily idle funds from clients by opening deposit accounts. This process is called a deposit operation, and it is through it that financial institutions build their resource base, necessary for providing loans, investments, and other types of financing [1].
To begin with, let"s study the history of deposits. Historically, deposits originated in ancient Rome, when property owners left gold and silver for temporary storage with money changers and moneylenders. Later, in the Middle Ages, Italian merchants began storing coins and jewelry in safe places, entrusting the management of their funds to specialized companies, the forerunners of modern banks. Today, such services have become commonplace, essential for every person or business with available capital.
Further, let"s analyze the structure of modern bank deposits. Modern Russian banks offer a variety of deposit options, differing in terms of storage conditions, investment terms, and interest rates. Let"s take a closer look at the classification of deposit agreements.
Then I"m concerned with the classification of deposits.
Based on the contractual form, deposits are divided into two types:
    • Cash (through the bank"s teller)
    • Non-cash (transfer of funds through online banking or ATMs)
Deposits are divided into two types based on the early withdrawal option:
    • Demand deposits (the client can withdraw funds at any time)
    • Time deposits (funds are deposited for a fixed period, usually from three months to five years)
