    I. INTRODUCTION
    A. Background information on the topic
Markets for factors of production are the part of the economy where labour, capital, land, and entrepreneurial capacity are brought into use and assigned a price. Their condition affects far more than the movement of separate resources. Changes in labour availability influence wages, hiring, and the pace of output expansion. Changes in capital access influence investment decisions, the renewal of equipment, and the distribution of finance across sectors. Land use determines where production, construction, infrastructure, and settlement growth can take place. Entrepreneurship connects all three because business activity depends on the ability to combine labour, finance, and space into a viable production process. For that reason, the study of factor markets is tied directly to the broader question of how the national economy transforms resources into output, income, and structural change (Nizova, 2013; Nizova & Smirnova, 2011).

    B. Thesis statement
The paper is built around the thesis that the markets for factors of production in the Russian economy remain active and adaptive, yet their further development is constrained mainly by the uneven quality of resource allocation rather than by the simple absence of resources. Labour is available in aggregate, though increasingly scarce where demand is strongest. Capital continues to circulate through investment, bank lending, and borrowing, though access has become more selective and more sensitive to financial conditions. Land remains abundant in total size, though the part of the land fund that is directly relevant for intensive commercial use is much narrower and institutionally bounded. Entrepreneurship remains broad in numbers, though concentrated in microbusiness and individual entrepreneurship. From that perspective, the present condition of Russian factor markets can be described as dynamic, though structurally imbalanced.
The study addresses three research questions. The first question is: how are the markets for factors of production in the Russian economy composed, and which segments dominate their current structure? The second question is: what is the present state of the main factor markets in Russia in the latest observable period, with special attention to labour, capital, land, and entrepreneurship? The third question is: what development prospects can be identified for these markets, and which opportunities and constraints are most likely to shape their future movement? These questions are linked by one analytical idea. Description of composition provides the structural basis. Assessment of the current state shows the practical condition of each market. Evaluation of prospects brings the discussion from description to explanation and forward-looking interpretation.
To answer those questions, the paper uses a descriptive and comparative research design based on official internet sources. The empirical base consists of Rosstat yearbooks and thematic statistical collections, the annual reports of the Bank of Russia, the national land reports of Rosreestr, and statistics from the Unified Register of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises maintained by the Federal Tax Service (Rosstat, 2023, 2024, 2025; Rosstat, n.d.; Central Bank of the Russian Federation, 2024, 2025, 2026; Rosreestr, 2023, 2024, 2025; Federal Tax Service of Russia, n.d.). The method combines descriptive analysis of indicators, comparison across recent years, and cross-market interpretation. The chosen time frame is centered on 2023–2025, with a necessary adjustment for land statistics because Rosreestr’s latest available report covers 2024 and was published in 2025. Such a design is appropriate for the level of the assignment because it preserves analytical coherence without requiring a narrow econometric model that would ignore the heterogeneity of the four markets.
