  1.Introduction
  In the literature of the second half of the twentieth century there is an active rethinking of old concepts and a constant search for new ways to reflect the state of modern society. One of the main problems is the crisis of identity of literary characters. Habitual images can no longer meet the artistic needs of authors, and are not able to fully convey the problems of the modern world. The key concept for the modern hero is the identity crisis, which forces writers to change their approaches to the creation of the heroes of their works. There are new techniques, aimed at the embodiment of multidimensional images, resulting from the changed cultural reality of the modern world. Among these techniques were highlighted the author"s portrayal of the identity crisis of the characters.
