  Introduction
  The present term paper is dedicated to the problem of invasions ofthe United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
  The subject of the research is the invasions taken by the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
  The research’s topic is methodology of teaching the British invasions in Russian schools.
  The limitation consists in considering only invasions into Iraq to make the deeper analysis of particular events.
  The aims of the paper are studying main invasions of the British Empireinto, and elaborating techniques for presenting the material in school, for developing and controlling peoples’ extra-lingual skills.
  The aim determines the paper’s tasks:
  1) to systemize information on the most important and interesting invasions:
  a) to define exact dates of British invasions intoIraq;
  b) to study the reasons of the invasions;
  c) to learn about the aims of invasions;
  2. METHODOLOGICAL WORKING-OUTS ON THE THEME “BRITISH INVASIONS”
  2.1 Types of tests.
  There are many elicitation techniques that can be used when writing a test. Below are some widely used types with some guidance on their strengths and weaknesses. Using the right kind of test at the right time can be enormously important in giving us a clear understanding of pupils' abilities, but a teacher must also be aware of the limitations of each of these task or question types so that he use each one appropriately.
  Multiple choice test is in choosing the correct item out of several options. For example:
  Cook is _________today for being one of Britain's most famous explorers.
  a) recommended
  b) reminded
  c) recognised
  d) remembered
  
  In this test type there is a stem and various options to choose from. The advantages of this test type are that it is easy to mark and minimizes guess work by having multiple distracters. The disadvantage is that it can be very time-consuming to create, effective multiple choice items are surprisingly difficult to write. Also it takestime for the pupil to process the information which leads to problems with the validity of the exam. If a low level pupil has to read through lots of complicated information before s/he can answer the question, a teacher may find s/he is testing pupils’ reading skills more than their lexical knowledge.
