  It is known that America turned out to be the most powerful economical and political empire after the World War II. Thanks to American success in politics, economy and sciences this country is nowadays a powerful enclave which influences greatly most world unities.
  US activity in almost all spheres of the state life, in foreign policies, rapid development of advanced industry - it is a merit of great American Presidents. The USA have luck with its first Presidents. They were statesmen with notable dignity. Every country would be proud of such leaders. Of course, all the next Presidents can’t come up with such individuals as George Washington and Thomas Jefferson. But many of them managed to do their work with honour, for example, Abraham Lincoln, Franklin Roosevelt.
  The supreme law of the USA is the Constitution of the United States. It was adopted on the 17th of September 1878 in the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia and went into effect on the 4th of March 1789.
  The US Constitution is the world’s longest written charter of government. According to it, the government of the United States is to serve its citizens. Constitution defines the supremacy of people through their elected representatives.
  The Constitution gives Congress the status of the first branch of the federal government. According to the Constitution, Congress is responsible for organizing the executive and judicial branches, raising revenue, declaring war and making laws.
  The main functions of the US President are signing the legislation and the bill then becomes law or veto the legislation and the bill then becomes law. One more very important function of the President is command of the United States Armed Forces as its commander-in-chief. We have already mentioned that Congress has the power to declare war. But the President, in his turn, has the power to ultimate responsibility for direction and disposition of the military. But in the world history we can trace some cases of illegal war affairs. For example, Theodore Roosevelt didn’t get official declaration but still moved into Panama in 1903. Also we can remember the Korean War, the Vietnam War, the invasion of Grenada in 1983 and Panama in 1990
