  1. Introduction
  
  In the English language (as also in other languages) new words are continuously appearing, and this process is steady. That’s why the study of new words’ appearance is necessary.
  One can cite a lot of criteria which influence new words’ appearance in the language, for example, changing of political situation in the country, appearance of new economical,........
  3. Shortening.
  Shortening is non-regular model of word formation, but with the time the quantity of shortened neologisms is increasing. The main types of shortenings are acronym, clipping, blending and abbreviation.
  Acronyms are often used in the sphere of computer technologies, sociology and medicine (for example, CAD - computer-aided design).

  4. Conclusion
  
  Let’s make a conclusion. First of all we have studied the definition of neologism and it characterized features. It must be noted that there is still no unique definition of this notion. In the present work we cited the definitions of several investigators of neology and made a conclusion that neologism is a contradictory notion as the time of neologism’s existing in the language is limited. ........
