  Introduction
  
  English language is the official language in the United Kingdom, the USA, Canada, New Zealand and many other countries. English is considered to be the official language of many international organizations such as, for instance, UNO. Nowadays more than 370 billion people speak English. Modern English is used in many spheres of human activity.
  Nowadays English has become a truly global language. There are only few places at the world map where English is not spoken. English is the mother tongue of people living in Great Britain, North America, and Australia. In South and Southeast Asia English has established itself as a link language between the indigenous languages. English is the official language or one of the official languages in many countries of the world. For example, in Nigeria English is used officially together with other languages: Edo, Efik, Idoma, Yoruba and others. English is also used for creative writing in countries where it is considered to be the second language. In many countries of Europe, China and Russia English is a first foreign language in school because it is considered to be the most important international language.

  1.1. Classification of Languages of the World
  
  In the modern world there are a lot of different languages. Their quality is estimated in thousands, but it is impossible to reveal the exact number of modern languages. The reasons of this impossibility are the following:
  1) some languages of the world are scarcely known;
  2) it is difficult to distinguish different similar languages from the dialects of one and the same language .
  For instance, there are more than thousand languages in Africa, with 205 in Nigeria, 120 in Tanzania and 100 in Cameroon. In the island of New Guinea there are over 700 languages and in Russia about 100.
  Such language situation can be observed not only in modern times but also in the very beginning of human society. Nevertheless, there is a theory of a single language from which all other languages descended, although there is no firm evidence of this fact in the modern linguistics. It is considered to be a kind of a myth that all language of the world evolved from a single language which could be the language of a population which migrated out of Africa within the past hundred thousand years, and then populated the entire earth.
