  Introduction
  
  The present research is directed to the analysis of the use of different means of expressing futurity in British newspapers. The category of futurity is very broad in the modern English Grammar. Its means of expression are not only future tense forms, but also other markers such as Present Continuous tense form or to be going to-structure. The modern British newspapers touch different themes. Sometimes it is necessary to depict a certain future action that is possible with the help of Present Continuous, Future Continuous and to be going to-structure. The topicality of the present research consists in the fact that British quality and popular press can perform differences in the expressions of futurity. And this question has not been investigated as yet.
  The object of the present research is the category of futurity.
  The subject of the research is grammatical means of expressing futurity.
  The aim of the present paper is to analyze the use of the Present Continuous, the Future Continuous and to be going to - structure as means of expressing futurity in British newspapers.
  This aim can be reached by means of several tasks:
  1. To examine Present Continuous, Future Continuous and to be going to-structure as markers of futurity in the English language.

  1.1. Notions “Future”, “Tense” and “Aspect” in Lexicographical Resources
  
  The notions of “Future”, “Tense” and “Aspect” are closely linked with each other within the framework of English Grammar denoting the category of futurity. Nevertheless, they have also other meanings in the English language, sometimes not in the sphere of futurity.
  The notion “Future” has from two to four meanings in the English lexicographical resources.
  In the Oxford Dictionary there is one global meaning of the lexeme “future” (a period of time following the moment of speaking or writing; time regarded as still to come) which has four varieties: 1) events that will or are likely to happen in time to come: nobody can predict the future; 2) the likely prospects for or fate of someone or something in time to come: MPs will debate the future of the railways; 3) a prospect of success or happiness: he"d decided that there was no future in the gang; 4) Grammar: a tense expressing an action that has not yet happened [Hornby].
  In the Cambridge Dictionary we can see just the same meanings of the notion “future”: 1) a period of time that is to come (refers to the first meaning of Oxford definition); 2) the form of a verb that you use when talking about something that will happen or exist (refers to the fourth meaning of Oxford definition); 3) what will happen to someone or something in the time that is to come (refers to the second meaning of Oxford definition); 4) the chance of continuing success or existence for something (refers to the third meaning of Oxford definition) [Murphy].
