    1. Background information
As people use computers for a variety of purposes, confidential information, confidential communications, and personal choices can be registered in a variety of ways. “Internet privacy” is a broad term referring to the various concerns, technologies, and strategies for protecting information, communications, and choices that are meant to be private. Irene Pollach, professor of Department of Business Communication, Aarhus School of Business and Social Sciences, gives a precise definition to the term “Internet privacy”, stating that “information privacy denotes an individual’s right to decide what information is made available to others. Privacy is thus guaranteed only if individuals know that data are collected about them and if they have control over this data collection and the subsequent use of the data” (Pollach, 2011; p.88).
Main types of the Internet fraud are considered in the works of Robert F. McDonnell, Attorney General in Richmond, Virginia, and Tom Arnold, Chief Technical Officer, CyberSource Corporation:
The First type of the Internet fraud is cyberstalking – it can be e-mail threatening and forgery, identity theft, initiating directed computer viruses, etc. (Ccmostwanted.com).
The Second type is phishing – sending emails from a trusted source which will then trick a victim into giving them his/her vital financial or/and personal information (McDonnell, 2005: p.2; Spamlaws.com).
The Third is pharming – redirecting Internet users from legitimate commercial websites to counterfeit web pages to trick them to disclose their credit card number etc. (McDonnell, 2005; p.2).

    2. Personal Privacy Ensuring in Social Networks
Public sharing of private lives has led to a rethinking of the current conceptions of privacy. Daniel J. Solove, the author of the article Do Social Networks Bring the End of Privacy? Points out that young people share the most intimate details of the personal life on social-networking Web sites, such as MySpace and Facebook (Newfangled.com).
It is through social networks that personal information is mostly distributed, which is often resulted in cyberstalking and phishing. That’s why in this chapter the problem of Internet security on the personal level is considered in particular on the example of ensuring the Internet personal privacy in the most popular social networks – Facebook.com, Myspace.com, Classmates.com and Frienster.com. – according to the following criterion: (1) the visibility of the privacy settings link, (2) the ease to which privacy settings can be changed, (3) the default privacy settings. These criterion will let to define whether each of the social networks can offer significant privacy protection even in the absence of user awareness
