  INTRODUCTION
  
  The research of lexico-phraseological features in the political narration of presidential elections is today of great importance. Presidential election is one of the most important events in the world of politics which takes into consideration the opinion of every citizen of the country. In the USA (as well as in some other countries) presidential elections get massive media coverage in newspapers and magazines, television, radio, and Internet. That is why it is possible today to find out a fusion of the two genres: political genre and mass media genre. This fusion influences greatly on the peculiarities of the political narration which are today accessible for the mainstream population of the country.
  Changes in the political narration of presidential elections are found at every language level. But lexico-phraseological features are subject to transformations more frequently because phraseology of the English language penetrates into all spheres of language and reflects different kinds of transformations, from language peculiarities to structural and organizational aspects of presidential elections.
  Consequently, the topicality of the present research consists, firstly, in the great interest of scientists of different branches towards the political discourse and the political narration, including the sphere of presidential elections; secondly, in the insufficient information of stylistic potential of lexico-phraseological means in the political narration of presidential elections.
  The relevance of the present research. Language of presidential elections is changed all the time. Its main purpose is linguistic manipulation which helps to persuade and motivate its recipients to take part in the elections of the leader of the country. One of the main means of linguistic manipulation in political discourse is phraseology of the English language. It reflects all the changes in the political narration.

  CHAPTER 1 FEATURES OF PHRASEOLOGY IN POLITICAL DISCOURSE
  
  Political phraseology is a very vivid, fluid and almost non-researched lexical layer. The politicians often use phraseological units in their speeches and make it effectively not in every case. Sometimes the politicians are the authors of new set expressions themselves.
  The degree of influence of a politician’s speech often depends on the originality and accuracy of the phraseological units’ usage. On the contrary, mistakes and clichés can be catastrophic for the results of presidential elections.
  That is why it is important to study the notion and characteristic features of phraseological units, their role and types in political discourse.
  1.1 Notion and General Characteristics of Phraseological Units
  
  Phraseological units are studied in the phraseology of the English language which is also the fond of phraseologisms of the language. Phraseological units have some common and also different features in comparison with the free words and word-combinations of the English language.
  Consequently, phraseological units have their own specific features which will be discussed below.
