  INTRODUCTION
  Military vocabulary is one of the main peculiarities of the texts on military and war themes. Vocabulary of military texts is represented mostly by terminological units. The problem of military terms and other forms and types of military vocabulary is thus studied in many foreign researches (C. Calloway [10], J.M.G. Dennen [12], S.J. Flusberg [16], M. Kis [23]) and Russian studies (I.R. Galperin [3], M.P. Brandes [2]).
  However, military vocabulary is still not investigated in full size. Sometimes military vocabulary is not distinguished as a separate lexical stratum. Furthermore, linguo-stylistic features of military vocabulary used in belles-lettres are even less investigated in modern Linguistics. The scientists and researchers pay most of their attention to the functioning of military vocabulary in military texts, such as D. Howard [22], I. Kocote [24], P.J. Mitchell [31; 32], A.W. Thompson [44]. But functions and linguo-stylistic features of military vocabulary in belles-lettres lack complex investigation.

  CHAPTER 1. SPECIFICS OF MILITARY VOCABULARY IN MODERN LINGUISTICS
  
  1.1 The Notion of Stylistic Features
  In the first paragraph of this chapter of the work we are examining the notion of stylistic features within stylistics. Stylistics can be simply defined as the study of styles of the language. According to T. McArthur (1996) stylistic is “the branch of linguistics that studies style, especially in words of literature” [28, p. 914].
  Every style has its own stylistic features. Stylistic features are used with the aim to distinguish one style from another. At the same time style can operate features not referring to the study of stylistics. It is the main question for us, which features of the text are its stylistic features and which are non-stylistic features. Following the opinion of B. Lang (1987), we have to suggest that this differentiation is brought out by considering what constitutes a difference in style, rather than another difference [25]. If we can discriminate those features of texts that would be called “stylistic features”, we can speak of the stylistic aspect of a particular text as the set of all its stylistic features

  2.1 Stylistic Characteristics of Military Vocabulary in Ben Elton"s "Two Brothers"
  Stylistic means of military vocabulary are analyzed in this work in the example of the novel of the British writer Ben Elton “Two Brothers”. Ben Elton is a British writer, actor, dramatist and film-director. Initially people have learnt about Ben Elton as of an inspired comedian. He wrote a lot of comical plays which gained the audience’s love. Some of them are “Popcorn” and “Silly Cow” which are still at stage in different countries of the world. “Popcorn” even got a prize as the best comedy: Olivier Awards and TMA Barclays Theatre Awards.

  3.1 Practical Application of Ben Elton’s Military Vocabulary in Lexicology
  In the present course paper we learnt that Ben Elton’s vocabulary in the novels is full of military lexical units including different kinds of terms: common and special military terms, military terms used in metaphorical nomination, etc. Consequently, the practical application of Ben Elton’s vocabulary is possible within the science of terminology.
  The science of terminology studies the specifics of terms and professional lexical units of different thematic spheres. Of course, the main sphere of terminology for practical relevance of the present study is military sphere. But sometimes terms refer to military sphere only in one meaning, and in the another meaning they can be used in other term systems. For example:
  The vanguard of the troops were already nearly at the bridge over the river Spree and still the sullen mass of people kept their silence and the strutting troops their order (BET, p. 28).
