  The Flow of Political Information: Personal Discussants, the Media, and Partisans
  Analyzing the sources and the character of information received by voters in twelve CNEP countries during election campaigns, the chapter The Flow of Political Information: Personal Discussants, the Media, and Partisans in Democracy, intermediation, and voting on four continents (Richardson and Beck, 2007) answers the following questions. What are the main sources of political information? Which of these sources have a greater partisan bias? What kind of relationships can modulate congruence at the individual level? How does the social status of voters and their discussants influence their voter preferences? What is the extent of voter’s political embeddedness in the frame of partisanship in the analyzed countries? And how does the partisan strength modulate the congruity between of the voters’ preferences and the biases of the information source?
  The thesis of the paper: “Less partisan mass media – television and newspapers – and more partisan personal discussants – spouses and relatives – are the two main sources of political information during election campaigns in a modern pluralistic model of voting preferences in twelve CNEP countries.”
