  INTRODUCTION
  
  The genre of adventure is today very popular in the modern English literature. It comes under the thorough review in different scientific fields such as theory and history of literature, linguistics and its branches including stylistics.
  The genre of adventure can be applied to the novel “Life of Pi” the author of which is the Canadian-born writer Jan Martel. This novel is today a very popular field of research because this novel brought a Booker prize in 2002, was sold in a large circulation and got film adaptation favourite in different countries of the world.

  1.1 Notion of Stylistic Features
  
  The presence of stylistic features in every text or speech is stipulated by the fact that stylistic devices are characterized by the bright figurativeness, syntagmatic ambiguity and semantic intension. Accordingly, syntactic features of a text are of great importance in different functional styles of the language, especially in the belles-lettres style. In fiction stylistic devices are considered to be the main component of a text according to the main stylistic function of the language in this functional style.

  2.1 Jan Martel and Analysis of His Writing
  
  Jan Martel is a world-known Spanish-born Canadian writer best known for his novel “Life of Pi” that is the material of the present research. He was born on June 25, 1963, in Spain (Salamanca). But this is just the place of his birth. His childhood and adult life he spent living in different countries such as France, Costa Rica, India, Mexico, Iran, Canada, Turkey, the USA. His parents, Canadian diplomats, were of French-Canadian descent and at last settled in Montreal. So, the writer lived a nomadic life as a youngster [38].

  3.1 Practical Application of Lexical, Syntactic and Phonetic Features of Jan Martel’s Style in Stylistics
  
  Practical application of lexical, syntactic and phonetic features of Jan Martel’s style is possible in many field of modern linguistics. First of all, the practical relevance of this study consists in the field of stylistics.
  Stylistics is the study of the ways in which meaning is created through language in literature as well as in other types of text. Practical research in the field of stylistic is useful because of the substantial and thorough analysis of a row of stylistic devices used by the writer Jan Martel.

  CONCLUSION
  
  In this study we first of all revealed the operational notion of stylistic features: stylistic features consisting of stylistic devices and expressive means are representatives of stylistic function of the language and of the categories of expressiveness and emotiveness. The notions of stylistic devices and expressive means are separated. Stylistic device is an intentional intensification of language structure, and expressive means are words or other language items in specific stylistic function. Both stylistic devices and expressive means can function in every level of the language. The stylistic analysis of Jan Martel’s writings was made in this work according to lexical, syntactic and phonetic levels.
